Why do we get the flu immunization each year? The flu immunization helps to keep us safe from the harmful effects of influenza. There are many complications that can arise, especially in children and older people. The flu immunization will help minimize those complications and continue to help us lead healthier lives!
Let's work together and stop the stigma, let's reach out and spread the message! If you need help, that is ok, that is acceptable, and that doesn't make you different! Call or text 988 for help! Reach out to someone! Your life is important and your life matters!
DID YOU KNOW.....on June 28, 1894, Congress passed an act making the first Monday of September each year a legal holiday. This holiday was passed first by individual states to honor the hard work and strength of our American workers. Oregon was the first state to pass a Labor Day act and the first Labor Day Parade was on September 5, 1882. (Information provided by the US Department of Labor)
We are a community surrounded by beautiful water, not to mention the vast amount of pools in our very own back yards! Make sure children are monitored at all times around water and if you are on the lake or river, wear your life jacket! Don't forget sunscreen and enjoy your family and friends on this long weekend!
School has officially started and you know what that means.....sharing germs that cause illness. The most effective way to ward off an illness is consistent and constant hand washing. When hand washing isn't available then use a hand sanitizer. Cover your cough and sneeze with your sleeve. When an illness strikes, stay home. Don't forget to get your immunizations to help prevent and lessen the burden of an illness. With immunizations you can decrease hospitalizations and time spent out of school or off work. If you have complications please call your provider or seek care through an emergency room.
Most all childhood illnesses can be prevented, immunizations have been the greatest public health success. Public health is designed to protect people, all people. School is the easiest place for children to spread germs and illness. There are many reliable places to find information on immunizations including:
